Purpose of This Site

This website is a personal portfolio for Jan Michael Wallace II. It shares professional information, selected work, perspectives, and ways to get in touch about projects, collaborations, or professional conversations.

This site uses a small amount of browser-based functionality to make the experience work as intended. When you click an email link marked for project inquiries, JavaScript creates an inquiry reference number using the current date and a local count stored in your browser. This helps make email subjects easier to identify and organize.

The inquiry count is stored locally in your browser as janmichaelInquiryCount. It is not submitted to this website by that script. If you choose to send an email, the generated subject line and any information you include in your email are sent through your own email client.

If you respond to the consent banner, your analytics choice is stored locally in your browser as janmichaelConsentPreference. This prevents the site from asking for the same choice on every visit.

This site also uses JavaScript to adjust the header while scrolling and to load recent article content for the Perspectives page. Those features are used to display the site and its content properly.

Analytics and Third-Party Services

This site can load Google Tag Manager and related Google services to understand general site activity and improve the website. Google Tag Manager is only loaded after you accept analytics in the consent banner.
